72 Hours in Stem Cell Research

20 Minute Short Documentary

A scientist at the Bedford Research Foundation performs one in a series of experiments taking the first look at Human Parthenogenic Stem Cells. It is the first time this type of controversial research has been performed in the United States. As she attempts to artificially “activate” three unfertilized human eggs, she reveals new insight into the life and work of controversial scientists. In the midst of this work that may become illegal, she and collaborative scientist discuss their motivation, friendship and taking risks.

Created as part of an indepedent study at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. This piece came with a curriculum guide for teachers.

It is highly recommended to begin a discussion of this video by asking students to recall the most striking elements of the video.
